Research Interests:

Dr Xu received the doubleB.E.degree from TianjinUniversity(TJU),China,in July 2002,and M.E.degree from TJU in March 2005,and the Ph.D.degree from Institute of Electrical Engineering,Chinese Academy of Sciences(IEECAS),in July 2008,respectively,all in electrical engineering.

From 2008 to 2011,he had been one Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the School of Electrical,Mechanical and Mechatronic Systems,Faculty of Engineering and InformationTechnology,University of Technology,Sydney(UTS),Australia.His academic research activities in this period mainly included drive machines for line arm etroand plug-in hybrid electrical vehicle(PHEV),which were financially supported by the UTSV ice Chancell or Research Fellowship(one-year),the UTSE arly Caree rResearcher Grant,and two international research grants in China.

From 2011 to 2013,Dr Xu had been appointed as one RMIT Vice Chancell or Research Fellow with School of Electrical and Computer Engineering in RMIT University.His research topics focus one lectro magnetic design and control algorithman alysis of new structure permanent magnet synchronous machine(PMSM)drive systems for the PHEV and wind generation,and induction machine for transportation.Meanwhile,Dr Xu had be invited to serveas one Senior Consultant Engineer for new structure axialflux permanent magnet machine withAxiflux PtyLtd,Australia,and develop on highper formance PMSM in Meiji University by awarding Invitation JSPS Research Fellow,Japan.

Since 2013,Dr Xu has joined HuazhongUniversity of Science and Technology(HUST),China as one professor. His current research interests mainly include design and control for drive system,especially on linear machines and novel structure PMSMs.

Moreover,Dr Xu has been very active to take part in various acade micservices.Since January 2014,he has been one Senior Member in IEEE(Institute of Electrical&Electronics Engineers)society,USA.Tillnow,he has been one Regular Reviewer for>8IEEE Journals,and Session Chair for>15IEEE Conferences.

As the 1stCI,Dr Xu has successfully completed 5 projects in Australia from 2008-2013, including RMIT Vice Chancell or Research Project.Currently,he is leading 4 projects,mainly including 2 National Natural Science Foundation of China(NSFC),1 Hubei Province Science and Technology Supporting Program.He has 18 China Patents and>35 internationally recognized Journal papers(in which have>25 IEEE Transactions Journal papers.)
