A result of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering was selected for the China Academy of Engineering Science and Technology Achievement Exhibition.

Recently, the Chinese Academy of Engineering hosted the “Celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China and the 25th Anniversary of the Founding of the Chinese Academy of Engineering”.

    The Institute of Energy of the Academy of Engineering has 22 achievements, including 800kV UHVDC transmission, million tons of coal direct oil production, the first multi-channel parallel ultra-high power pulse device, and the EAST full superconducting Tokamak nuclear fusion experimental device. The results of the Institute of Applied Electromagnetic Engineering of the School of Electrical Engineering, "Permanent Electron Beam Uniform Diffusion Device" are included for its original innovation.

The passive electron beam uniform diffusion device uses a permanent magnet to construct a special shaped magnetic field to directly diffuse the electron beam, which subverts the widely used electromagnet scanning electron beam diffusion method, and overcomes the worldwide problem of the defects of the radiation product quality caused by the shaped beam spot and the tail sweep. The equipment is reliable in operation and consumes no electric energy. It has been authorized by the United States, Japan and South Korea for three international invention patents and a number of Chinese invention patents. The International Federation of Irradiation Industries (IIA) evaluated it as “a subversive invention of the irradiation industry”. It has won the highest award of the 44th Geneva International Invention Exhibition jointly organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization and the Swiss Federal Government - the special award gold medal of the jury, the first prize of Hubei Province Technology Invention, and the China Patent Excellence Award.
